Social Enterprises

It is no secret that engaging in social enterprises is going to be the dynamo that powers our work with boys and young men who need a second chance.

With businesses and learning institutions not willing to offer job opportunities to people who have been in conflict with the law, it makes sense to invest in social enterprises.

Help us in providing a lifeline to exceptional young men

Hawi James Ouma believes that there is infinite power in reading. After getting a job as an untrained children’s TV Producer, Hawi James began going to schools to promote reading. After meeting the first 100 boys in juvenile prison, he quit his job in order to focus on breaking boys out of prison through transformative justice.

Now, Lifesong Kenya has become a pivotal organization that provides restorative justice, transitional housing and aftercare support to boys and young men who need a second chance. Our inspiration is based on our drive to provide tangible solutions to young men. Of course, we are borrowing from Father Greg Boyle’s Homeboy Industries model. Our desire is to grow a workforce that will use their creativity to create  streams of income for our exceptional young men and organization.

For that to happen, we need the following resources and tools:-

  • glass bottle cutters and work benches
  • bicycles and accessories
  • camping tents, sleeping bags and other camping gear
  • laptops to be used for online training
  • market for our products

Here are the social enterprises that we are planning to engage in:-
