Commitment

All of our programs and activities target the boy-child, their families and the communities where they belong. We treat all of them as Exceptional Young Men and expect them to thrive.

Where We Begun

Our founder, James Ouma, begun going to prison in July 2012 during his off day from work on Fridays. In 2013, he quit his job as a Children’s TV Producer  to grow Lifesong Kenya’s programs.

Where We Are Now

We’re running programs in school, juvenile prison and transitional housing and by so doing, addressing the root cause of conflict, crime and offense at home, school and in the community.

Where We Want to Be

We want to create projects and businesses that will create employment for our male youth and an income for Lifesong Kenya’s programs and activities.

Volunteer Testimonials

Working with Lifesong Kenya as a volunteer has been an unforgettable experience. Even though I worked with them online, I felt like part of a family thanks to their enthusiasm and love for what they do. I’ve had the opportunity to do both, help with their projects and enhance my skills at the same time: such a wonderful way to volunteer!

I look forward to coming to Nairobi and meeting all your exceptional young men in your new home!

We all deserve second chances. However, there are people who haven’t even had their first. Thanks Lifesong Kenya for supporting them and believing in them.

Francesca Mulliri, Volunteer

Lifesong Kenya is founded on a truly valuable mission: providing young men with equal opportunities for growth, reconciliation and community reintegration.

Volunteering my time, even though remotely, was an amazing and eye-opening experience.

James is so inspiring, with lots of creativity and innovative ideas, always ready to find new and effective ways to support the exceptional young men involved in Lifesong Kenya’s projects. Thank you and my best wishes for all your future endeavours

Giada Borsetti, Volunteer

Working with Lifesong Kenya was a joy. They are a dedicated team working their hardest to make the lives of those around them better.

Ian Beck, Volunteer

It was a good experience working with Lifesong Kenya, James and Kevin. They run a very meaningful programme in Kenya, especially their Food Care programme targeting affected families during the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, I was slightly let down by the occasional poor communication and replies from James. This was understandable as James and his team were busy facilitating help towards his community.

Thus, I believe it would be more meaningful and appropriate for volunteer to travel to Kenya and work on-site rather than volunteering online.
