A SAFE PLACE TO HEAL AND REBUILD

Halfway House for Boys

When a boy has nowhere else that is safe call home, having a place to sleep is only the beginning.

Lifesong Kenya provides safe, structured and nurturing residential care for boys who have experienced neglect, exploitation, family breakdown, stigma or trauma — giving them the stability they need to begin healing, learning and rebuilding their lives.

Healing Begins With Safety

A boy cannot focus on school, healing or his future when he is worried about where his next meal will come from or where he will sleep.

Our Halfway House provides a safe and structured environment where boys can step away from crisis and begin rebuilding their lives.

Residential care is not simply about providing shelter. It is about creating the stability from which healing, education, relationships, responsibility and personal growth can begin.

What We Do

Here are elements that form part of our Halfway House for boys current residential-care model.

Safe Housing

We provide boys with a safe, structured residential environment where they can begin to experience stability again. Boys have adults around them who can provide supervision, guidance, encouragement and care.

Daily Care

Boys receive nutritious meals, clothing, healthcare and consistent day-to-day care. Since each boy’s circumstances are different, we provide individual care and support based on his needs and situation.

Education

We work to keep boys in school and prevent their circumstances from permanently interrupting their education. Additionally, we support each boy’s individual talent or gift so they can thrive beyond academics.

Co-Active Coaching

Providing support through coaching and mentorship to help boys make use of coding, bicycle repair, storytelling, tailoring, bead making, cooking and other opportunities that can contribute to future independence.

Boys Who Need a Safe Place to Rebuild

Our residential program supports boys experiencing circumstances including:

  • Neglect
  • Family breakdown
  • Exploitation
  • Stigma
  • Trauma
  • Housing instability
  • Disrupted education
  • Other situations requiring structured care and protection

Admission and support are considered according to each boy’s individual needs and circumstances.

A Safe Place Can Change the Story

Since opening our Halfway House for boys, Lifesong has provided residential support to boys who needed a safe and structured environment.

The goal is not simply to provide accommodation. It is to help each boy regain stability, continue his education, develop practical skills and begin imagining a future beyond the circumstances that brought him through our doors.

Our Impact

  • 20+ boys housed since 2021
  • Capacity to accommodate up to 20 boys
  • 24/7 house-parent support

We are working to expand our capacity so that more boys who need a safe place can receive support.

“I did not have a place to call home in 2022. But, thanks to Lifesong Kenya, I was able to have a place to stay, hot meals and a community that allowed me to grow and develop my skills. Funnily enough, I never knew I would one day seek for housing support after taking part in Lifesong Kenya’s cycling event to raise money for the Halfway House in 2020 as a cyclist. Staying at the Halfway House enabled me to develop skills that helped me to gain confidence. I was also able to get a job, thanks to Lifesong.”
