Our programs are built on a holistic model that focuses on reaching boys before harm happens, and healing them fully when it already has happened.

Our Mission

Our mission is to be a beacon of hope, healing and transformation, where boys can heal, regain their strength, and rewrite the stories of their lives — and where every boy, whether in crisis or not, learns what it means to treat himself and others with dignity, respect and honor.

PREVENTION & ADVOCACY

Stopping Violence Before It Starts

Healing boys after harm is only half the work. The other half is reaching boys before harm happens and teaching them, while they’re still forming their sense of manhood, what respect actually looks like.

We take healthy masculinity out of the counselling room and into schools, football (soccer) pitches and communities, using peer mentorship and the game boys already love to make the lessons stick.

  • In-school curriculum on healthy boundaries, consent and treating others with dignity, respect and honor
  • Peer mentor training — boys teaching boys
  • Football-based positive masculinity coaching
  • Community advocacy campaigns against gender-based violence targeting women, girls, boys and other vulnerable members
  • Training boys to recognize, report and interrupt abuse

RESIDENTIAL CARE

Safe Housing for Boys in Crisis

Our residential program provides a safe, structured and loving home for boys who have experienced neglect, exploitation, family breakdown, stigma and trauma. Each boy receives his own bed, nutritious meals, access to education and 24/7 house-parent support.

Our Halfway House has the capacity to accomodate up to 20 boys at any given time, and have a waiting list that reflects the depth of need in our community. Expanding our housing capacity is our most urgent fundraising priority.

  • Providing a safe, structured residential home in Ngong
  • 24/7 house-parent supervision and care
  • Three meals daily, healthcare & clothing
  • Individual care plans for every resident
  • Paying school fees to keep boys in school
  • Life skills training in Coding, Bicycle Repair and other skills

We visit the boys while in prison and trace their families and those they are in conflict with.

Testimonials

The idea of visiting families and helping them budget whatever little or much they have is just amazing. Giving and donating is good, but when someone donates exactly what you need, even the most basic, then that’s the best.

MAGGY K, Program Beneficiary

Lifesong Kenya’s School Program has helped our boys to become better in terms of their character, taking responsibility at home and academic performance in school. Kudos to the whole team!
