Half Way Cycle 2020

Most at-risk male teens who exit juvenile prison often face the risk of going back to prison as hardened criminals due to lack of proper transition. Lifesong Kenya seeks to address this by providing a Half Way house in 2021. In order to do this, we are organizing a cycling event. Join our Half Way Cycle 2020 and learn more.

Male teens exiting juvenile prison often face stigma and rejection from their families, their peers and the people they have wronged. Many times, they are also marked by police officers who profile and target them for future crimes and arrests.

As a result, they face high risks of re-offending and going back to prison as hardened criminals. Lifesong Kenya seeks to address this by providing a Half Way House for at-risk male teens who need more time and support to reconcile with their families and the people they have wronged.

Half Way Cycle 2020

On November 22 to December 2, 2020, the Lifesong Kenya Team will cycle from Nairobi to Malindi to raise Kshs. 500,000 ($5,000) that we need to rent a Half Way House in 2021. The 10 days cycling will take us through a scenic route via Machakos, Wote, Kibwezi, Voi, Mombasa and Kilifi.

The funds raised will enable us to provide a safe house for male teens exiting prison. It will also provide a safe house for boys who have faced abuse at home. During their stay, the boys will receive skills training and psychological support. Additionally, Lifesong Kenya will use the centre to sustain its future activities.

We need your help to reach our goal. You can join as a cyclist, donate and share our cycling event with your family and friends. You can also mobilize your family and friends to walk, run or cycle and use our link to fundraise on our behalf.
